The District is situated in the North-Western end of the Province and covers Whagi, Koronigle, Singa Nigle and Omai valleys, the mountains of the Sepik-Whagi divide in the North and the Kubor Range in the South.
Kerowagi District is an open electorate and shares electoral boundaries with Gumine to the south and Kundiawa /Gembogl to the north and has a total landmass of 547 square km covering it’s four LLGs. The District Head Quarter is located within the Kerowagi Urban Local Level Government area and has a sub-district in the Kup Local Level Government.
Its administration boundaries run as far as Nogar and Bogo to the north, Demange to the west, Kup/Gamar and Neragaima to the south, and Miunde to the Jiwaka border. The district has a land area of approximately 610 km2 with a total population of 93,107. The District is the most developed compared to other District

District Administration
The Kerowagi District Office is located in Kerowagi where it administratively supports Kerowagi Urban LLG, Upper/Lower Kornigle LLGs, Gena Waugla LLG, and Kup LLG with a separate sub-district located in Kup.
The District Administration is the body in the district headed by a District Administrator with several sectional heads reporting on operational issues in each of their respective sectors and together they constitute the District Management Team.
The District Administrator /CEO with senior officers oversee the following functions :
Planning, Commerce, Primary Industry, Education, Community Development, Health, and LLG Administration.

Most of the roads in the Kerowagi District are categorized as Provincial Roads with exception of Dagima and Kunabau roads which are categorized as District Roads.
The people in the District require less than four hours traveling time getting to Kerowagi or Kundiawa.
The Highlands Highway runs through the Whagi Valley and links to a good road network that covers most of the occupied parts of the District.
